Pickin' Pears

Last weekend we had the opportunity to pick pears at one of Jonathan's colleagues house. He has miles of pear trees and we have been trying to go for a while (darn all this sickness going around!).

Luke was in heaven... Parker couldn't care less really. He kept wanting to walk but it was making me so nervous with the cactus and tall grass.

Luke loved reaching for the pears and picking them off the tree!

Parker didn't really like to get that far away from Daddy!

And I made an Apple Pear Crisp this morning with all of our pickins!

Obviously I couldn't wait for after dinner... It was yummy!!!
Here's the RECIPE I used.

October 2012

And still playing the catch up game! Here's what we were up to in October.

My mom and aunt came to visit for a weekend and after the kids went to bed... we played Angry Birds together...

Lunch entertainment at Rosa's...

Being silly with Mommy

We had a picnic in the boys play set... and we all fit!

 We have some goofy boys...

New outlet for chalk and memory verses!

The boys went on the annual Mitchell Boys camping trip (and Mommy got the weekend to herself!!!)

One of my favorite things about this trip is the uncles and Papa put together a devotion for the younger boys. So at the end of the weekend they've heard lessons about 5 different things. They get to learn more about how to walk with Jesus from other men besides their daddies. Love this!

This Halloween we hosted our 2nd annual Halloween Block Party. We invite our neighbors over for hot dogs and get to catch up before the trick or treating starts. We have really enjoyed getting to spend time with our neighbors in this way!

Mommy's little entertaining helpers

Luke was a robot

Parker was supposed to be a cowboy, but he wouldn't keep anything on... I'm surprise he wore the boots!

Half Marathon

Jonathan ran in the Marathoning for Miracles half marathon last weekend with his brother, Samuel. He has been working really hard and has been so disciplined in his training. I just don't get how you can run for an hour and a half and enjoy it...

He had also extended the invitation to his classes and made a deal with them. He said that if at least one student would run the half he would drop one of their lowest homework grades. And if they ran in it and BEAT him he would drop an additional homework grade! He had three students run the half, but he beat them all! (Proud wife moment!) Then we had them all over for brunch afterward.

Here are some of the pictures from the race...

Samuel finished in 1 hour and 30 minutes (the clock in the pics is for the marathon runners time)

Sam and Ben after the race

Jonathan finished in 1 hour and 46 minutes

The boys sign for Daddy and Uncle Sam

Both, Sam and Jonathan, wanted their times to be faster. I was incredibly proud of them though! And Jonathan had been sick the whole week prior and wasn't able to run all week. The Lord definitely gets the glory for his strength and endurance to finish the race!

September 2012 (a little late!)

I am so far behind in my monthly updating! Oops! I'm using today's nap time to try to catch up!

Here's what we were up to in September...

hanging out with Mommy

Buffalo Gap's annual Chili Cook Off! This was our 3rd year to go and Luke actually ate some pulled pork! (This is a HUGE accomplishment for our picky eater)

Digging in the dirt & wearing their fedoras for their Little Man Party!

Parker had Roseola...

My sister turned 21 and we celebrated in College Station.

The boys and I went on a treasure hunt and the treasure was hidden at Hardin-Simmons! They even got to have a picnic lunch with Daddy as part of the treasure. Here's a more detailed post about their treasure hunt along with some videos!

We also took a family trip to the zoo! Here are more pictures

Other random pictures of September!

Luke & Noah decided to have their own Bible study while we were at Life Group :)
