Crazy Orphan Lady

A new title I gladly take on! They told us while we were in Zambia that we would be called "the crazy orphan lady" and it's true! haha

The deadline for the Father's Heart Sponsorship Program is coming up soon! Monday, October 1st is the last day these kids can be sponsored until next year. My family still has 27 kids who need to be sponsored! Please, please let me know if you would like to make a huge difference in one of these kids lives!!

Family Zoo Trip

A few weekends ago we took a family trip to our zoo. Our boys get up pretty early so we got to the zoo right when it opened. Turns out that's the best time to go because all the animals are waiting to be fed and are up and moving! We got to see the giraffes eating their breakfast.

We also got to watch the jaguar eat his breakfast! This was incredible! They had placed pieces of meat on different parts of the tree and we watched as he gracefully climbed all over to get his breakfast. Luke even got a close encounter with him!

The bobcat was also interested in something he saw!

Ugh, Jonathan made me take this picture. It gives me the heebie-jeebies!

We ended our family day with some shopping for the cooler weather (that has already left!).
Parker didn't like the giraffe hat! :)

We had a great weekend full of lots of family time!

August 2012

How is it that another month has gone by?? Goodness! We have been busy with squeezing in one last summer getaway and getting ready for school. Here's what the Mitchells were up to in August.

We had a family reunion with my dad's side of the family and spent the weekend on Lake Palestine. The boys absolutely had a blast! We got to go out on canoes, rented pontoons and had a few olympic games ourselves!

This was the view from the lake house we rented. It was great! We all loved the big yard and all the room to run and play!
We had to rent two pontoons to fit everyone and we attempted to knee board and tube behind them. Obviously, they don't go very fast so we had to make it interesting! :)

Luke loved riding on the tube! He even got in on a few tricks!

Parker stayed pretty chilled the whole time we were out there. Switching back and forth from food to his passy. :)

In mid-August we started gearing up for back to school. That included adding another little boy during the week. This year I'll be watching a friend's little boy while I'm at home with my two. All the boys have adjusted really well and already act like they're brothers.

Jonathan started his 3rd year at Hardin-Simmons and continues to love his job and the people he works with. We had a little picnic with Daddy before his semester started.

And that's pretty much what we were up to in August!
